Lifestyle Yoga World — 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, Dubai
There is a quiet truth that most modern training programmes will never tell you: you can learn a hundred postures and still not become a yoga teacher.
A teacher is not someone who can demonstrate a perfect headstand. A teacher is someone who understands why the body is being asked to be still, what the breath is doing to the nervous system, and where the practice is ultimately pointing. That understanding does not come from the flowing, fitness-led sequences that dominate the studio world today. It comes from two ancient, inseparable streams — classical Hatha Yoga and the Raja Yoga of Patanjali.
Skip them, and you graduate able to lead a class. Study them, and you graduate able to transform a life — starting with your own.
At Lifestyle Yoga World in Dubai, these two systems are not an elective module. They are the spine of everything we teach.
People often imagine Hatha and Raja Yoga as competing styles. They are not. They are two halves of a single architecture — the outer and the inner work of the same journey.
Hatha Yoga is the science of preparation. The word itself is often read as the union of ha (sun) and tha (moon) — the balancing of opposing energies in the body. Through asana, pranayama, the shatkarmas (cleansing practices), bandhas and mudras, Hatha refines the physical and energetic body until it becomes a steady, quiet vessel.
Raja Yoga — codified by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras around two thousand years ago — is the science of the mind. It maps the entire path of consciousness through the eight limbs, or Ashtanga: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
Here is the relationship that changes everything for a trainee teacher: Hatha is the staircase, Raja is the destination. The classical texts are explicit that the purification and stability built through Hatha exist for the sake of meditation and self-realisation. One prepares the ground; the other completes the harvest. Teach asana without this map, and you are handing students a staircase that leads nowhere.
Most of your future students will arrive with the same hidden ache — the inability to quiet the mind, even while practising yoga. They can hold the pose. They cannot hold their attention. This is the real problem you are being trained to solve, and asana alone has no answer for it.
Patanjali addresses it in the second verse of his text: yogaḥ chitta-vṛtti-nirodhaḥ — yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind. Everything else is preparation for that stillness. When you teach from this understanding, a forward fold stops being a hamstring stretch and becomes an act of pratyahara — a withdrawal of the senses inward. The same pose, taught by two teachers, becomes two entirely different experiences. One is exercise. The other is yoga.
This is the difference a complete training makes. You don’t just learn what to cue — you learn what is actually happening underneath the cue.
Studied properly, classical Hatha hands you a toolkit that fitness-style training simply cannot:
This is yoga as the Himalayan lineage preserved it — and it is what separates a certified instructor from a true teacher.
The Eight Limbs are not only a teaching syllabus. They are a life. Yama and Niyama — the ethical and personal disciplines — shape the character of the teacher long before they shape the lesson plan. A student can feel the difference between an instructor who recites the Sutras and one who lives them.
When you internalise Raja Yoga, your teaching gains an authority that no certificate can grant. You speak about non-attachment because you have practised it. You teach contentment because you have tasted it. This is the quiet magnetism that makes students stay — and it is, in our experience, the single most overlooked element in modern teacher training.
Our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training in Dubai is built on the classical Himalayan lineage, integrating Patanjali’s Eight Limbs, the wisdom of Ayurveda, and an honest grounding in modern neuroscience — so that you understand the ancient why and the contemporary how at the same time.
The programme is led by Yogi Sumit Manav, Founder and Master Teacher, with E-RYT 500 credentials, a postgraduate diploma from DSVV Haridwar, and 25 years of teaching in the classical tradition. You won’t be learning a watered-down sequence. You’ll be receiving a living lineage.
Training takes place in one of the most serene settings in the city — our premium studio on the 4th floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai.
When you graduate, you won’t just hold a certificate. You’ll understand yoga the way it was meant to be understood. You will, in the words we hold closest, become who you already are.
If you have ever felt that there is more to yoga than the poses — you are right. That “more” is exactly what this training is built to give you.
